Pugrish

Here we have the most gentle boy - Pugrish. His name comes from a video game (Shadow of Mordor - a Lord of the Rings game) and was one of the Orc's names that both my husband and I loved the name of (pronounced Poo-Grish, not Pug-Grish). He is a brown stripey short haired cat who randomly showed up one day already at least a year or two, or even three old (most likely I'd say he was 3). He was my lap kitty! The only kitty that ever did what he would do. He was meow at me until I bent down to form a ledge with my legs and he would then climb up onto my lap and lay across my legs purring and cooing and giving me the most lovingest love eyes, ever!

Pugrish also absolutely loves the cat bed I made specially for him
(the colours look great with his colouring!)
Below, I think I may have woken him hah

Yup, that look definitely says "You've disturbed my slumber..." haha

And just look at his strong nose! So cute! 😍

Below he can be seen awaiting entrance to the house with Mr. Kitty, sitting on my husband's grandma's lift (I'm actually super thankful for that thing, whereas before they would simply sit on the tiny brick ledge of the window and trust me, there isn't much there! Boy, did I worry!)

I honestly have yet to meet a cuddle-bug like this guy. He is my sweet, sweet boy, with his soft, dapple grey/slightly brown black stripey fur and his greenish-yellow eyes! He gets along with every other cat, he doesn't have a mean or dominating bone in his body! He loves to clean Chappie (we'll meet him in our next kitty post!) and his elder surrogate brother Mr. Kitty. He has the biggest heart! ❤

Mama (Boa) and Monster (Cookie)

Today we have a Mama and Baby named Boa and Monster (previously known as Cookie)! One day a beautiful grey and peach cat turned up on our deck carrying a tiny black and white kitten with her.

She plopped it down and sat watching so we went inside and got the little Queen her and her baby's food. It was like she thought bringing the kid would secure her food hah but we, of course, would have fed her regardless. For a long time, she was simply named Mama - then my husband and I decided to name her Boa in honor of a one piece character (shown below) because whenever we come near her, she begins bobbing her head backwards reaching her neck so far back trying to get us to notice and pet her! She's too funny and still does this to this day!

And as for Monster, his name was originally Cookie (because of the black and white Oreo look) until I realized she was a he and decide to name him Monster (Cookie to Monster, get it?) hah.

After Monster had a snack (above), he went on to the bottom of the deck to play, until...

He met Miss Kitty!

But then began rolling around and fell asleep... for 2 minutes.

Then decided he wanted to go inside for another snack!

Milk, Yum!

And then, Monster became a teenager!

And then he wanted back outside

Here are some photos of teenager/adult Monster loving outside

When Boa originally came to us with Monster, she disappeared later that day. We thought she was going to get more of her kittens but she didn't bring any back when she finally showed back up sometime later. During the time she was gone, I made sure to take care of her baby as per her instructions when she dropped him off, as seen below, he got quite comfy next to me and fell asleep easy-peasy! (Could I look any more thrilled? lol)

Boa is one crazy character of a cat, though; the head bouncing, laying on her back and show her belly all the time looking just like a fluffy teddy bear, leading us here or there and then decide she doesn't want to go outside or wants to but wants to go out a different door and if we try to pick her up and help she sometimes lets us know she wants to do it herself lol, she's very particular and we love her for it! ❤

Mr. Kitty

What to say! There's so much!

Mr. Kitty has been with us the longest and has been our baby from day one. He is a dapper chap in his beautiful orange (almost reddish) coat - something I have yet to see in another orange cat! He also has really beautiful deep yellow (not greenish like some cats) eyes!

Here he is in all his glory!

He really is a beautiful boy! When he was born (born inside the house luckily) I could hear small meows and knew - the babies had been born! But their mother wasn't a great mother, she was a VERY scared cat, who thankfully had managed to allow us into her life enough to have her kittens inside the house but she would never let you anywhere near her and I guess her motherly instincts weren't great. When Mr. Kitty was born, his foot was wrapped up in another one of the kitten's umbilical cord and was swollen, large and red! I immediately called the vet and they said to bring him down. They cut him free and removed the umbilical cord from his brother and told me I would need to apply a warm compress to the foot 4 times and day for 15 minutes at a time to help reduce the swelling, but they warned me he might still either lose the foot or not heal correctly - either way, it's mute now because I diligently took care of him and a few weeks later he was right as rain!

He was born a year or two after Miss Kitty and has been the boss around here ever since! All the others cats seem to look up to him, giving him mandatory head licks when he walks up to them and bows his head! (like a boss lol) He's a special boy, who is particularly my husband's baby (man does he love that guy, and vice versa! lol)

In 2010, when he was either 1 or 2 years old (can't quite remember) he broke his leg! 😭😿 We aren't sure how it happened, he just came home and it was dangling! So we brought him to the vet and they put on a cast!

Here he is below with it on

The first day when we brought him home, we thought something was wrong. He wouldn't walk and would plop down onto his side or his butt sticking his cast leg in the air and meow so loudly! After doing this three or four times, however, he began walking just fine, his little peg leg thumping along with him, as he realized the cast wasn't coming off! haha Guess he was asking us to "free" him, but we didn't so he got the hint - it was staying on. Then we had the pleasure of hearing him cry every time he looked out the window for 5 weeks straight, as the vet said we should keep him indoors so his leg could heal properly. It was 5 weeks were we gave him a lot of undivided attention/care/love to keep him busy! In the end, the cast was removed and he was able to go back outside as per his usual. Thankfully, nothing like this has happened since! He does have a jaunty walk to this day but it's his right leg that he kicks out when walking and not his left? so...? Only he knows all the crazy stuff he gets into out there!

And now for your viewing pleasure, more Mr. Kitty shots!

We were in the garden and he followed along for a photo shoot!

Mr. Kitty has brought us many smiles and happy memories over the years! Whether it is replying to us with short sharp meh (meows) almost as if he is agreeing, or his drawn out long pleading meows when he smells something he likes (we're vegan now but back when he was younger we would buy sliced turkey and he would go nuts for it! My husband joked that we bought the expensive stuff just for him hah because he'd end up eating half of the bag! We must really love you cat lol)

A few years ago we got a new set of kittens that were born outside but we got to come inside (we then got them spayed and neutered) and now Mr. Kitty is showing them how life is done! Their own parents vanishing one day, but it's okay, they have their big surrogate brother, Mr. Kitty! I have many more photos of this dapper boy and when found, I will be making a new post with updated shots! We love you so, so, so much, Mr. Kitty! ❤

Mittens (with a side of Josee)

And this is where my love of kitties began. Introducing Mittens!

I was about 8 (I think) when my mom told us we were going to get a cat and that I (being the kitty lover, my younger sister the dog lover, but a dog was too big to get) could pick it out! My mom took us to a lady's home who's cat had given birth to a litter a few weeks prior (the woman actually turned out to be my friend's mom which was super funny when I walked into her house and was like "I've been here" haha). When we got there, there were three kittens, two black fluffy cats and a short haired brown and white striped fella, one of which (a black one) was already spoken for. Both of my sisters, my younger and older (I'm the middle child - unenthusiastic "yay" insert here, lol), wanted the other black fluffy kitten, but I chose the brown striped guy! My older sister swore I chose him just to not choose the one she (and my younger sister) wanted, but it wasn't the case at all. The black fluffy ones were adorable, but he was different, like me. So I bonded with him then and there, and there was nothing anyone could say to make me choose otherwise. Well, I have always loved my choice, even my mom told me she was glad I choose him as well (though she kept her opinions to herself during the process because she told me I could chose).

As far as childhood pets goes, he's the best. My mom tells me about the first night we brought him home, he was so small, and I was determined to have him sleep in my bed, but when my mom came to tuck me in I had tears in my eyes. She asked me what was wrong and I said; "What if I roll over during the night and crush him! My teddies always end up under me or on the floor!". She thought it was adorable and promised me she would keep him safe in her bed with her.

As a kitten/teenager, he would climb up my mom's leg all the time and then one time,  he did it as she was about to step into the shower! 😲 That didn't end so well, she ended up with a giant cut all the way down her leg when he began to slid! But she didn't hold it against him, she had always encouraged his climbs and took it as a lesson! No more kitty in the bathroom before showers! hah.

In the photo above, Mittens can be seen trying to flee Josee (full name Josee Jalapeno Sewchand, the J's said like H's for my English speaking audience) (Sewchand being my step-father's last name). Now, don't confuse this for thinking Mittens disliked Josee, on the contrary, he loved him. We would find them sitting together all the time, it just seemed that the moment we came upon it Mittens would often act like "What do you mean? I wasn't sitting with him!" haha but they were good friends. Josee was a rescue my mom's friend Barb and her sister found under a trailer with a wife, kittens and a baby raccoon they had adopted and was feeding off the mom alongside the kittens. Really it is an adorable story. The mom and kittens plus baby raccoon were all adopted, the raccoon and some of the kittens finding they're way to Barb's sister's farm, while my mom and step-dad decided to adopted Josee and give Mittens a brother/friend! Josee had the smallest, literally the tinyest! meow! Like a kitten -  so adorable! Everyone who met him thought it was crazy cute, that and we used to get him shaved in the summer like a lion hah if I ever find the picture I will need to update this post!

But back to my baby Mittens. He liked to sleep in sinks, particularly our ceramic faux sink, liked to chase my younger sister to her room down the hall while nipping at her heels (she hated it lol), loves my mom more than anyone (I should have let him sleep with me that first night, oh well.. lol) and is a beautiful boy who can take care of himself, yet doesn't mind a good pet. When I find more photos (currently in storage) I will update this post! He was my first, will always be my everything, I love him with all my heart! ❤
